As mentioned previously, the Patriot Rail group has made a filing with the STB to take over the freight (and only that) assets of the Sierra Northern. They already operate the McClellan Park operation as the Sacramento Valley RR, which used to be part of the Yolo Shortline/Sierra Northern.

Permian Basin (which they seem to prefer now to Iowa Pacific) did buy the Mount Hood, but I haven't seen anything about the YW. It would take some very deep pockets indeed to rescue the YW, as that would mean taking over the CORP in whole or in part.

Also totally agree with Mr. Hunn's opinion on Ed Ellis. I've always found him great to work with.
