Two memories from when I was a kid of about 7 or 8:
Counting the cars behind a cab-forward. My dad was driving along Hoffman Blvd. near Albany Hill in the Richmond - El Cerrito - Albany part of the SF Bay Area. (Route is now part of I-580.) That is the only distinct memory I have of watching a cab-forward at work. IIRC it was a block of 106, maybe 107 reefers, plus a caboose, eastbound.
Riding the Key System across the Bay Bridge during its last year or so of operation. I think my mom took me on that one.
