Norden, when it was open had to be one of the most unique railroad places in the US. No other place like it. All the friendly people working there and sitting down with Shorty and operating the CTC panel. Winter at Norden was really special. You knew where everything was and could plan your photos accordingly. Getting buried on my first ever shot of a rotary working coming out of Noeden on the #1 track heading east. All the neat wood sheds that were still there when I got there in the early 70's. The cook house meals were fun as well rubbing elbows with rails. Putting up orders with Shorty. Hanging out with Steinheimer and listening to his stories about Norden. Braces of SD-45's blasting through the sheds with deafening noise. Geeze I could go on forever. What a great place for a railfan. K6KFF we should get together and share memories.
