EMP not just fries electronics but anything electrical that is running, electric motors (traction included) unless shielded would fry if the EMP happens while they are running. Shielding is like bullet resistant vests , different levels provide different protection but none stop all. Or in an EMP event the closer you are the more the damage. Hope we never find out the true damage one can do.
