Boy, this thread is full of mis-information!

1. The bypass was opened for traffic in 1983. September, IIRC.

2. It is like the rest of the paired track, ABS current of traffic, not 2MT CTC.

3. The former WP office in Winnemucca was demolished years ago by UP. It's former site and the building that replaced it are located where Bridge Street dead-ends at the old WP tracks.

4. The old WP Elko office still stands at the northwest corner of Second and Silver Streets.
