This is the first time I've read that 2914 came to Bakersfield from Oregon in 1937 so I'm skeptical of this claim.

2914 was originally assigned to Bakersfield around 1901 when the engine was brand new. The Bakersfield newspaper reported the exact date the engine showed up (I'll look up the report later on and report back here)

A photo shows 2914 in operation on March 14, 1955 so it wasn't "retired in Feb. 1955."
