Due to a construction work window on the bridge over the Ventura River between Ventura and Seacliff, it appears the COAST STARLIGHT will detour between LAX and OAK via Tehachapi for ONE DAY ONLY -- THURSDAY, OCTOBER 26TH.

As always, "buyer beware" and be advised that everything is subject to change, but this is the latest info I have and appears to be pretty firm. A good way of determining this is that ARROW has been adjusted for that day for Trains 14 and 11 and it is impossible to book, for example, LAX to Salinas. You CAN book LAX to OAK. Same thing for Train 11. The affected southbound train would be the # 11 that departs SEA on October 25th.

Using past practice as a consideration, I'm guessing they'll use UP all the way up the Valley, go around the wye at Lathrop, and over Altamont, rejoining the normal route at Newark.

Hopefully the skies won't be too smokey from the fires north of the Bay Area.
