Delaware, Lackawanna & Western bought an E-8 Demonstrator used from EMD; they pretty much followed the demo paint design, only changing the colors and replacing the nose shield with the Lackawanna square herald.
Also regarding Espee, EMD built 4 SD-45X demonstrator units; all 4 had the standard EMD Blue & White demonstrator colors. However 3 of them had full Espee light packages. These 3 units would be sold " used " to Espee in addition to the 3 SD-45X units Espee bought new.
