Note Alberton and Haugan Milwaukee Railroad hazardous sites are classified as archived sites account they were once the location where hazardous materials were once used. They require no remediation or further study at this time. That is not surprising since the Alberton roundhouse was not built until after 1909 and was removed once the electrics arrived after 1914. The steam locomotives used thick bunker type oil for fuel so no diesels were ever serviced nor fueled there.

BN took responsibility for the Livingston roundhouse area prior to sale to MRL. MRL has repaired any leaks in the fuel infrastructure and uses catch pans above ground in the fueling areas to catch any spills or overflows.

Having grown up in Montana all I can say is it is a much cleaner and healthier place now than it would be if there were no EPA.
