Well, the surroundings in SLO were just fine. I worked it for 15 years and found turning out the headlight after starting down Arlite eastbound was beautiful on a moonlit night. It was brighter than having the head light on. I can say the same working the Wendel line between Ravendale and Moran at night after a snow storm covered everything and the moon was out.
As far as John being back working on a steam generator, no point in getting 2 guys fired when you know one will take a vacation for sure.
When I was the BLE Local Chairman in SLO the files were full of "...working on a unit..." when a jackpot happened and the transcript of the investigation was read.
As far as Rule G, we took care of our own. If someone stubbed their toe he was covered BUT was talked to later even by a Local Chairman or even a company officer. They usually stopped from bringing it to work.
