The fact that they only have six? of the cars means they don't have enough to run on other long distance Bi-level trains. Sometimes they substitute a Superliner lounge when one of the Parlour cars is out of service but I don't think they have enough extra Superliner cars that could be converted to Parlour cars
The wine tasting used to be free but a few years ago they started charging about $5 and I believe they also allow coach passengers to participate.
The car also offers a limited lunch and dinner menu to take some pressure off the dining car.
Since the Santa Fe cars were built around 1958? I don't know how much longer Amtrak willbe able to keep them in good working orderjo
