Peoples interests change and train topics on this site don't generate as much interest as the other. Train related posts themselves generally show most interest if the subject is controversial.
There are other free rail discussion sites for friendly railroad chat. I originally came to this site for the rail news almost 20 years ago. The discussions back then seemed to reflect the news, so that could be one reason why this site has a certain edginess.
