Espee was very forward - looking in the late 1960's, not just with TOPS, but also with Southern Pacific Railroad Internal Network Telecommunications, which used a series of microwave towers placed along SP rail properties. They sold the excess capacity on the open market for awhile. They also had Southern Pacific Pipelines and Pacific Motor Transport.
I recall seeing ACI labels on Alpha Beta Grocery trailers and tractors. Perhaps this was due to their trailers being piggybacked on U.P. trains between SoCal and Las Vegas???
