I've purchased "relay" ties from Pioneer in the past as well. The ties on the outside of the bundle were pretty good but the internal ties were junk. Pioneer claimed the ties were purchased "as is". Needless to say I don't deal with them at all any more. Koppers has a plant right here in Denver and their "industrial" grade ties are just fine. All I can tell is wrong with them is they can have a few rounded corners sometimes. Other than that they're good and stinky creosote ties for not that much more than "relay".
