FINALLY
I can chant my Olden Gate Bridge Conspiricy.
The GGB District would have been sunsetted out of existence and the bridge given to CDH [now Caltrans] when the bonds were paid off.
They almost were paid off so the BD borrowed more. The BD sure as hell didn't want BARTD to invade their domain so they bought a few studies that concluded the bridge couldn't handle.
it. As the accounts answer the query 'How much is 2+2" "What do you want it to be".I was at PBQ&D when one study was made mid-60s but never saw it.
NOw then look up some of the early publicity for the bridge, wherein the designer states it would be at least twice as strong as it needed to be- a comfort to folks who looked out their windows toward the surface.
So, REALLY?? .
But NOW how much does a SMART [sic] car weigh? Compared to a BART train?
Are long trains really the right thing, as opposed to short yet very frequent service?
The real question is how much dead load of steel and train live load add to the total existing load? Surely not as much as , say 50%
IS there one of those magic studies online?. I usta be a inguneer.
No. I'll be fine now, just a little liedown.
