Sounds great, if one forgets history, and that there are always bad people.
Lemme see- I beat all my destroyers into , well not plowshares anymore, let's say Priuses
So another country sees I have NO destroyers, NO fighter planes== no defense, and decides it will have my place, cuz it can.
As for who Eisenhower referred to, it's part of the U@ strory and the phony bomber gap. One of the most vocal about the gap was the CEO of Convair- also noted for claiming to be the pilot of the P-38 that killed Yamamoto.
