A key weapons factory would make Palmdale a military target - not so good for Jerry's base tunnels.

Real conflict is always a possibility; we're coming up on the centenary of the Great War. In August 1914 they had no idea what disaster was ahead and even in 1939 it was called "drole de guerre" at first.

But munitions is a boom and bust deal. Quite possibly the next Prez in 2020 will be a committed dove like Bernie and the defense budget will be shifted to welfare projects. It is like the RustBelt, which makes comebacks and always will be.
