Re: No One Listened To Dwight Eisenhower -- They should have! And to Major General Smedley Butler
Thanks you VERY much, "The Unprofessional Iconoclast".
Your words of wisdom are much appreciated -- by me, and
buy others, as we have seen.
Remember - fear is a very powerful tool that tyrants love to
use, as fear makes people very easy to control. Scared
people give up their freedoms and do not fight tyrants.
War creates huge profits for private corporations that
get huge "defense" contracts from the "Defense" Department,
which is paid for by our taxes - so, we all pay for these
huge companies, who then go on to make huge profits from
incalculable amounts of human suffering -- making weapons
to main and kill huge numbers of people, and, even if those
weapons are not yet used to kill people, their very making has,
as President Eisenhower said so eloquently, stolen the money
needed for hospitals and schools and housing and clothes --
to name a few of the things that these gluttonous "defense"
contractors have stolen from We The People -- by taking our
taxes and spending it on things that destroy lives and break
hearts and shatter dreams, and leave only wreckage.
Eisenhower was right, and so was Major General Smedley Butler,
who was a WW I war hero, and who got not one, but TWO Congressional
Medals of Honor. Please read what he wrote in "War Is A Racket":
