A prime example of an industrial-military complex running a country (quite literally so) was that of Japan in the years leading up to World War Two. The whole reason for the Greater East-Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere was to feed the fires of industry which in turn fed--and fed off of--the military's lust for conquest. This quest to aggrandize the power and wealth of a few, brought an entire nation and it's people (as well as millions and millions of citizens of other countries) to ruin.
