Long before environmental studies were required for infrastructure projects, environmental objections were raised when the Golden Gate Bridge was being planned. It was built.

During the environmental studies era (post-1969), I-70 through Colorado, I-99 through Central Pennsylvania, Boston's Central Artery Project and new light rail lines in Portland, Los Angeles, Denver and many other American metro areas have been built.
