I see the OrangeBuss flies over the Metrolink main where the Burbank branch used to join the Chatsworth siding.
I assume the grades are too steep for LRT , then there's the question of strength But....??
In its later days the branch was 'The Burbank Branch' served by 'The Burbank Local' which came out of Taylor and proceeded on the branch, using the wye just south of Burbank Jct, wyed and ran around at Chatsworth then returned via the main. There was one move of both Coast Starlights on the branch caused by a trailing GP-40X on the Oxnard, or The Smokey froze a pinion and derailed west of the Burbank airport.
The branch was relocated across the valley west of Sepulveda to accommodate the flood zone behind the dam [ in the NW quadrant of the 101/405 interchange]
Oh, and PE. The PE paralleled the SP west of the still extant depot for a mile or more.
When the PE bridges washed out in the 1938 flood, the SP track was bonded and wired for joint use. San Fernando became an island- passenger service had already been abandoned beyond North SHerman Way -check Dave Coscia's excellent book. The San Fernando island remained electrically connected with a marooned electric loco until PE got a couple of SP Brill gas-electrics and shortened them in 1943 to serve SF and and Orange islands
