When the UP transfers cars to the Lake Yard they are put into interchange with the Portland Terminal RR. It has to be that way so that they can have them in their system. The IBRSE (current arrangement) will then pick them up to UP points north. Same was done in the past with the MPDSE/MPTSE and is still done with the MPTPS.
Don't forget that the PTRC is two thirds owned by the UP.
