Geese Nudge, ya did it again. When I was in grade school (On Sir Francis Drake below (before) Drake a guy used to pull up by the school yard at a side street. If you gave him three new subscriptions to the Call, you got a new in the box Thimble Jerome race car. They were all the rage in those days. Some before your time at Redwood. I didn't know anybody remembered the Call Bulletin. And yea, the Examiner was an evening paper at that time. We subscribed to the then San Rafael Independent when it was owned by Wishard Brown. We used to stuff the Saturday news paper at the press so we could earn enough money to go to the show at the Rafael in the afternoon and have enough to buy a Coke too. Steam still ruled the rails through San Rafael in those days. 1948,49.
