We had the great luxury experience of riding thru the Copper Canyon on what was then the AOE in 2004. It was a marvelous experience, not only the scenery but the yes, very expensive ride on the AOE. I am glad that our timing was such that the train was still being an incredible experience in itself, and yes, the scenery of the Copper Canyon is terrific. And BTW, even tho the AOE or Grande Luxe is out of business, there are other ways to ride that route through Mexican railroads and various other tour providers. At the time we went in 2004, and up until last year, if you are a RV'er, you can put your rig on a flat car and ride through the Copper Canyon that way. WE saw several of them on our trip in 2004 but I am not sure that they are doing them anymore for whatever reasons.
