I believe that you are referring to the GN's Coeur D'Alene branch, although it did not go next to the Spokane Valley hospital. I believe that it came out in the 1982-83 time period. It was redundant to the BN's ex NP CDA branch which left the mainline at Hauser Jct.

Coleman is correct in his references to downtown Spokane. The UP-MILW and GN lines were removed from downtown in 1973 to make way for Expo 74.
