We actually already have a few billion "pods" providing personalized, end-to-end, one trip, autonomous, individualized "public" transportation all over the planet, as I write this. I believe that they're called "automobiles", and I've even heard that very soon they'll be completely automated, as well.

Elon Musk is just another self anointed, self serving, "visionary", and attention seeking narcissistic ego tripper, with a good line of bs, which the media and public seem to eat up, even when it borders on the ridiculous. Which, of late, appears to be aimed at keeping all his balls in the air, and his name shining in lights, while his investors seem to be sweating bullets about being left holding what might end up being worthless shares in Tesla.

Most of the really useless posts in this thread, about his rather foolish and ignorant statement, would seem to be even more foolish than his comments, however.
