A related adage from aviation: Never point an airplane someplace that your brain hasn't been 5 minutes earlier.
I'm not a pilot. I learned that adage from the Air Crash Investigation TV series. The episode was titled, "Lost".

The episode was about American flight 965. The airplane got ahead of the pilots and they flew it into a mountain side in Cali, Colombia. It was termed a CFIT accident - Controlled Flight Into Terrain.
This crash was particularly interesting to me because as a young electrical engineer I worked a bit on a ground proximity warning system for commercial aviation.
Per the episode, a court ruled that pilots showed "willful misconduct" during the approach to Cali airport.
