Behemoth 1973 Dodge Polara, ex-CHP with a 440 and high-speed rear end... got the job done on or off highway, even going over the top to Cape Horn by way of Long Ravine on SP service roads several times.

Best I ever got was 11.3 mpg, with 9.0 mpg more typical. But, I could get there PDQ.

Problem with it was, just like a gunfighter, everybody wanted to challenge it. (Try to beat the CHP, sans ticket... right, Lee?)
