Re: "K" suffix for Hazmat

Thank you all for the info... now it begs the question, why is there such a restrictive speed for trains carrying hazmat? I see placards on nearly every train. THis is at MP 34.5 for northbound trains, there is a moderate curve a mile ahead, and I believe P drops from 79 to 70 but its F-50 for everything else. Why slow hazmat so dramatically?
