Ark,
That is inaccurate and wrong generalization from the 1970s. Things have changed. How many safety sensitive jobs have you worked in?
I take care of my motors, clean them and make sure everything is FRA good to go. Not pressured to do things in a hurry under the pressure of getting fired. I have worked for union and non union railroads. Currently, at union railroad and there for a reason. To have things done safe and security in one's future is a lovely thing in a world of change.
Yes, I have worked with some real bags of poop but 99% of the people out here do their job with pride and want to do it right. That 1% is the ones who are beyond lazy and stupid, they complain about the ineffectiveness of the unions. The same thing is felt by my friends that are union pipe fitters, electricians, and other crafts.
I know that will not change your opinion but I am not who speak of and take offense in the ignorance of your remarks.
