When I drove for The Pennysaver in Brea in the mid - 1980's, we would receive boxcar loads of newsprint from time to time, usually on a good deal from a mill, or a mill changing product lines or sizes. The standard newsprint roll of the time weighed right at 1000 lbs, and a " standard " 50 foot boxcar ( Railbox or SP double door FMC or PCF ) held 120 rolls + or - a few. I'm wondering if a 50 foot High Cube boxcar would be overweight if fully " cubed out " ??? If so, it wouldn't make sense to use them if a shipper could only fill them 75%. I'm also wondering if Espee's tariffs with the paper mills was figured on using their standard paper service yellow stripe boxcar ???
