Something that has worked for decades is foolish?

OK, just hire another crewman to stand behind the
engineer, call the sign, then whack him over the
head if he doesn't do anything. Oh, and then hire
another one to keep an eye on THAT one.

Obviously, 99% of you people have never been aboard
a moving locomotive.
