Way back when (60s ?) on the SP speed boards were 3/4 of a mile before they took effect.

We @#$%& and moaned and FINALLY got them out 2 miles before the restriction. Worked pretty damn good all those years. (Slicker than a penguin sh*ting on a glacier.)

Enter UP in the 90s. (Take over SP,etc) They said that was BS and proceeded to put them all back to 3/4 of a mile.

WHY? What was wrong with the 2 miles? ANYBODY? Didn't cost them a thing as it was but it did to move everything back to what it was 20 years before. Also removed any "safety distance" if someone screwed up.
