Re: Santa Cruz RTC Staff Recommends That Progressive Rail Be The New Rail Operator
For anyone interested in seeing the full submitted proposals from the five parties, they are posted to the following site:

I did not look at all of them, but I do find Progressive's proposal to be very interesting. Their report on the line's condition is quite informative and discloses a large number of issues above and beyond the single washout discussed off and on here. I do find comparing the 5-year financial plans of the SCBT&P and Progressive intriguing....SCBT&P anticipated freight revenues on the line at a flat rate of $45,000-$47,000 over the next five years, while Progressive anticipates grossing $140,000 in switching revenue in 2018, increasing steadily to just over $1 million in 2022. Progressive also indicates additional revenues from "Transloading", 'Storage & Rental", and "Other".
I'd also note a major part of Progressive's plan is reestablishing Suntan passenger trains. Transit Authority of Monterey County would provide San Jose-Watsonville passenger service as part of their plans to operate commuter rail service to Salinas. Progressive sees this service starting in 2020 and projects 60,000 people riding that train in the first year, increasing to 100,000 in 2021 and 140,000 in 2022.
I also note SCBT&P states in their proposal they have acquired two more CF-7s, both of which are labeled as being en route to Felton. Anybody know any more on these?
Will be very interesting to watch how this unfolds over the next several years.
