What arbitration? That article doesn't mention that any took place.

Besides, a labor agreement isn't "arbitration". It's a contract executed between the Union and the Company. Per the RLA, in discipline cases all remedies afforded by the labor agreement must be exhausted before either party can go to court. Even then, what can be "taken to court" is rather circumscribed because both the Unions and the Companies supported adoption of the RLA (1920s). In doing so, both agreed to use the process in lieu of going to court, which means that the end result of the RLA-mandated dispute resolution process is final.

"Feudalism"?? Totally irrelevant.
