I post here occasionally, and seldom introduce politics. If any of you have read what I have to say on that subject, you'll notice that it's usually to lament that too many people on my side of the aisle (that would be the right) seem to think that beating up on Amtrak makes them look tough on spending. It doesn't. It makes them look like innumerate morons when Amtrak's $1.5 billion subsidy is viewed in the context of a $4 trillion budget. Shoot, Amtrak's subsidy could be doubled, and it would cost each and every American a whopping $10 per person a year. That's a bargain.

Having said that, I find BOB2's comments to almost always be well thought out, insightful, and respectful. It's that kind of commentary that makes AP a daily read for me.
