The newsline has an article talking about Yakima's replacement of stolen copper trolley wire with aluminum clad steel contact wire. What a great idea but does it work? Copper bends and breaks so easily not to mention it costs a fortune. But what a great conductor. If room temperature superconductors are ever developed trolley contact wire should be one of the first applications imho.
If home builders started using all plastic or steel plumbing instead of copper that would help to bring the demand down and the price.
