Excellent comment by TMY.

All museums are "sources of copper", and bronze. (Don't forget bearings)

I'm aware of one company that has grounded an out-of-service line, with a visible jumper.
19 feet up in the air. Not a wise decision. Hasn't started to disappear, yet

I am aware of a major copper/bronze loss by one museum.

I am aware of a major theft of copper wire from a government agency. The buying scrap yard documented the thief's truck, stopped payment on their check, and helped the locals nail the thief.
