You all are thinking and analyzing this too much. I think Nudge's post was pretty tame, but he just got caught up in the middle of a thread that was going sideways because politics were introduced into it by others, which the TO moderators pretty much have a zero-tolerance policy for. It wasn't Nudge they went after, it was the thread in general. I don't blame them, once the political mud slinging starts there, it knows no bounds, so they tend to just nip it on the bud.

If you don't like it, don't use it. As far as I'm concerned, the quality of posts there is superior to unmoderated forums even if some innocent posts get caught up and deleted in the process from time to time. Lord knows it's happened to me there too. And remember, even David Curlee is a member there. Two different styles of moderation, which, for the most part, peacefully co-exist. Not the end of the world here people.
