Good show! Glad Dave was chosen for this honor.
Have always looked up to Dave Stanley, learned so much about Central California Traction, and railroading in the Central Valley, from his early contributions to CTC Board and Pacific News. First met Dave in person in November of 1975, when SP 4449 was taking the American Freedom Train west over Donner Pass. While waiting, on that cold morning in Truckee, Dave showed the soon to be implemented, Santa Fe Zebra stripe inspired, red and white paint scheme for CCT's geeps. That sharp paint scheme was Dave's suggestion to CCT.
One has to admire that Dave went from working in a hobby shop, to working as a conductor, yardmaster, and locomotive engineer for CCT, WP and UP. There was also a short stint, I'm told on the OC&E, and another temporary assignment, switching shopping carts at Safeway. But his photography never disappointed, and taught many of us to appreciate what he and his close friends went out and shot. Invest in Dave's books, and any Dave contributed to! [
