This reminds me of a story............ the Royal Gorge Route RR purchased two locomotives at an Omnitrax fire sale in Loveland, CO (the #2238 ex Santa Fe GP7 and #5305 ex D&RGW SD9). The two locomotives were given to the UP at Milliken, CO for forwarding to Canon City, CO. A couple of days later I get a call from Steve Lee in Cheyenne saying he saw our two locomotives in a train heading for North Platte. Steve was able to get them set out and heading in the right direction again before they left for NP......... anyway, several days after that I get a call from the North Yard yardmaster in Denver, saying he has these two locomotives in his yard with NO BILLING and what the hell do I want done with them? Well, I'm a little agast that there is no billing but they're still moving them but also, how did he get my phone number? So I tell him to send them south to Pueblo and give them to the Canon City local. A few days later they show up in Canon City. Never saw a bill for the move. Makes you wonder what UP is doing sometimes and how they still manage to appear to make money?
