The Rio Grande created the K-37 class 2-8-2 out of turn of the century consolidations in the Burnham shops. I suspect they are amongst the heavier outside frame locos in the US. The EBT stayed with inside frame as did the WP&Y. The NdeM had both.
Now there may have been some outside frame Garratts overseas, such as the 2' gauge 2-6-6-2's in Natal, South Africa. At least one of those migrated back to the UK at the Welsh Highlands Ry.
