I wish my files were at hand; from memory, Dunsmuir was to get a "Dunsmuir Mallet"--I forget which class of engine this was, perhaps a 2-8-2, but the city council asked for a smaller engine that would fit their intended display site--so an engine that rarely, if ever, was used in Dunsmuir (despite verbal stories told me back in the 70s that "so-and-so ran this engine here") ended up being the display engine. I was also told the roundhouse crew really "dolled her up" knowing the era was ended, along with most of their jobs. The pictures taken of her on the turntable do show a very shiny, freshly-painted engine.
The picture I have of her in the dead line was taken in Fresno, so I would assume that's where she was when donated.
