I don't know if it's related to what you're looking for, but in case it is, there are some rails and switches buried deep in the foliage near Kootenai. To find it, walk the Pend Oreille trail, and in the vincity of these GPS coordinates, poke around a bit and you'll find rail and switches (48.301004, -116.531429) I wonder what they were used for.
