One source mentioned that the Kootenai, ID connection was with the NP/BN/briefly MRL and SI/UP to exchange cars of ore from the phosphate mines near Garrison, MT.
I'm going to go out to EWU soon and research Mike Denuty's collection and hopefully in the process I will be able to find more info on the Bayview - Lake Pend Oreille lime operations. As I understand it - the barges brought the ore across the lake to the SI docks at Bayview from the mines near Lakeview.
