Well, my wife and I having taken several PNW to So. Calif. trips on the Starlight are very disappointed to learn that the parlor cars are gone. They did, in fact, add a pleasant dimension to having bedroom accommodations on the overnight trip. Neither driving I-5 (with its more than a few semi's) or flying on the busses with wings that pass for airliners is much fun these days, but the only passenger train our wonderful country can manage to operate the length of the west coast just got less attractive also.
