Having lived and worked there for 30 plus years, it was really sad to witness the deterioration. Walking the streets near my favorite rail sites became dangerous. In fact, many, many, areas became dangerous to the unarmed. I did a college thesis on the state of the neighborhoods for my photography studies. I focused on many current and former rail sites, as well as the more posh hoods. Most of the time, my cameras were well hidden, or disguised. Unlike other school projects, I came away with a sadness for what I had witnessed.
