Accident occurred prior to NTSB putting their accident reports on line. Here is a scanned copy with details about this serious accident (5 crewmember fatalities) that brought down a major highway bridge. Apparently one of the crewmembers made an error on reading a register and mistakenly thought an opposing train had already passed their location.
