Once again, since you have about 25 am peak trains up the peninsula, and because on the northern end the Coast Ghost started "filling up" at places like Salinas and San Jose, for a morning ("daylight" trip via Oakland), and more would get on from Oakland, Richmond, Martinez to Davis and Sacramento. Which is why we have an early am start on the Capitols, and why extending them to Salinas for an early am start makes sense, today.

If we had the budget and had the trains, I'd probably run a coast rail service both, on to Sacramento, and into SFO, since they both offer significant potential demand, kind of like a first world country would do.....
