You must understand the intentions of the Russian government. They wish to sow as much discord in the USA as they can. To forward that goal they supported the underdog in all the races they could. They supported Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump for example. The idea being to weaken whoever became president by having lots of people angry with their government.

It has worked well, but not in the way they expected. They didn't expect Trump to win. Heck, Trump didn't expect Trump to win. The success is shown by how divided we have become. Just look at the comments here. Insult following insult. No reasoned conversations, just one liners.

How far the righteous have fallen...
